ollie has some crawling signs

i keep asking myself, "when do babies sit up," or "crawl" or "eat this or that?" it seems i have forgotten all of the milestone months since i had emmett. i looked back at emmett's memory book and saw that he started to crawl at 8 months. the crazy thing about babies is that ollie could start crawling now (@ 7 months) or at 10 months, you just never know. he has been a big fan of being on his tummy and get excited to see things out of his reach, but no real crawing signs quite yet...

flexibility

this summer it's been me and only me with the boys and it's exhausting but so fun. every day i try to think of fun things to do and soak up summer as best as i can with a high energy toddler and baby. as much as i want to get out every day and do something different, i have come to learn (with trial and error) the importance of having some "normal" days at home so that both boys can have their regular naps. if we go out to do something, it usually conflicts with one of their naps and sometimes both boys end up skipping naps. i want my boys to be flexible, able to go with the flow, nap in the car, skip a nap once in awhile (without a meltdown), but also have some schedule on some days. i'm finding that happy medium, making for a very fun summer with happy boys! so far this week we've had beach time, northbrook court playtime and pool and out to lunch fun. yesterday was our blah stay at home day. we've got more exciting adventures (and naps) to come for the rest of the week! here we go!

sometimes you just need to ask for some help

i took emmett to the elk grove village pavilion. they have unlimted merrry go round rides, and a jungle gym area with those tubes that you climb up to get to the top. poor emmett desperately wanted to go up in this airplane but wasn't quite big enough to climb up all of the obstacles. so what did my determined and stubborn 2 year old do? he asked a 4 year old boy for help! and it worked! he made it up there. i had to wedge myself up there to get him down when the place was closing!!!!

remembering my youth at a carnival

riding the ferris wheel with my emmett is a memory i will cherish forever... the pure excitement that i got to share with him was just incredible.. and i am so happy eric got to capture some shots of us. that emmett is a dare devil. my 2 year old would have went on the upside down rides if i would let him! he did go on a dragon roller coaster, a dinosaur dizzy ride, a tugboat spin thing, the swings, and the car/truck ride. he even pitched some baseballs and got a blow up bat. he loved it all. after every ride, he wanted to go again! he is so much fun to be with at a fair because he's up for anything.
