Emmett made some art for daddy, grandpops and grandpa neal for father's day. he's pretty talented, right??

Dada's Day Weekend :)

We had a great father's day weekend! We went to Jack's baseball game and had a picnic with all of the Siegel fam on Saturday and on Sunday we had our parents and Aunt and cousin over for a BBQ on Sunday. It was perfect.

Poor Emmett was so sick of being strapped into the car seat and stroller after being taken to my doctor appointment and summer school meeting. The poor kid deserved a break! Good thing he had a blast at this park.

Weekend Getaway

Eric and I had our first weekend away from Emmett. As much as we both missed him, it was such a healthy thing to do for both us and him. It was a great way for me and Eric to reunite a little bit as a couple for for Emmett to have some independence from his parents. I definitely think all couple's with children deserve a small break, even if it's a very short getaway road trip. We went to Des Moines for my best friends wedding and on the way home stopped for lunch in Iowa City where I went for college. Being back in IC made me remember why I picked that campus. The city is filled with color, art and is very liberal. All things that go quite well with me. I kept thinking about how much I understand why parents dream for their kids to go to their colleges. I had fun, worked hard and got a teaching job out of it, so it worked for me! I would LOVE to have Emmett go to the University of Iowa, but I would of course never force it. At least I'll have to have him visit the campus sometime.

E just can't get enough of Devonshire School

Emmett came with me on my last day of school on Friday. He was such a good boy. He gave some 5th graders high fives during their awards ceremony and loved exploring my art room again.
