e and 0 videos

they are up to completely different things at this stage in the growing process, but before we know it, they will be running around and playing together.

oliver is mastering tummy time and lifting his head. he is working on his smile, which is heartwarming and his cooing too. he is working on sleeping through the night. we've had 3 AMAZING nights of this so far. the longest stretch being 10 hours! his favorite activities include swinging on the swing, laying around and holding toys on his activity mat, snuggling and getting baths.

emmett is doing all kinds of things! he is very good at independent play. he's always been good at this, but now i can watch him from a distance and hear him make car, truck, and boat sounds during play. the other day he put a toy on his head and told me in was a fireman hat. he loves dancing to music and singing. he has a beautiful imagination which i think is so important in a time when most kids just want to sit around and watch TV and play video games. imaginative play, making art, getting up and doing exercise are so important! i try my best to only put on the television at bedtime. we go days in our house when he don't even have it on at all. and i think that has made a big difference in e's imagination. eric always say's that if you don't watch tv, you have to try to entertain yourself in other ways, which is so true. emmett is much more engaged with his toys when the TV is off. i've recently started doing kids yoga with emmett, which he LOVES! he even says, "namaste."

i am starting to have real conversations with him now. he asks me questions and i answer. i ask him questions and he answers. it's amazing! he has the funniest LOUD voice and he is constantly cracking me up with the things he comes up with..

emmett has been getting a little sassy at times now and has been getting 1.5- 2 minute time-outs. when he's up to something he shouldn't be up to, i usually ask him to stop and if he doesnt, i start out by saying, "emmett do you want a time out?? I am going to count to three and you better stop." well now he is so darn sassy, he'l say to me, "yes i do.. let's go! it's in here!" (and point to the time out room)... i was in shock the first time he did this!! usually he would stop by the time i got to three. now he stops me even before i start counting and tells me that yes, he would like to go to time out!! what?!?! the good thing is that when i do put him in time out, he does get upset and does change his behavior when i take him back out. it's really different now to be a parent who disciplines... i have to be on my toes and think about how to react, or in some cases, no react (so he doesn't get enjoyment of getting a rise out of me).

i have to say that i think me and eric are doing a damn fine job at raising our boys. we are laid back, but can both be firm with discipline. all in all, we are mostly on the same page when it comes to parenting. we have very few different opinions on how to do things with the boys. we both are madly in love with them and crave time to bond with them. i am a very lucky mom, to have such an amazing dad to my children. i don't think either of us are told nearly enough that we are doing a great job as parents. i didn't think about this until this weekend when eric's uncle steve said to me, "molly, you are a great mother. you are doing an awesome job." and i thought to myself, "well i'm doing my best, but you know what... he's right, i am a good mom."

Chiropractor visit with E's favorite doctor, Dr. Katie

i started going to dr. katie this past august because i was having really bad lower back pain while i was pregnant with oliver. there were times when i could not even get up my back hurt so much. after about a month or so after seeing dr. katie, i felt HUGE improvements. she really helped me get through my pregnancy with weekly visits and stretches at home. since then i have been a big believer in chiropractors. after oliver was born, dr. katie offered me a free baby adjustment for him which basically was a little exam to see what parts of his spine were misaligned due to delivery and her using her fingers to do pressure points to align him. emmett was just getting over bronchitis at this point and i know that getting aligned can help with illnesses, so i brought him in for an exam too. emmett had quite a few areas that were misaligned. one leg even looked longer than the other because of the misalignment! so i had both boys get 3 adjustments in the same week and now i plan to take them twice a year for spine adjustments. dr. katie is the only doctor that emmett likes. he lays down on the chiropractic table to get adjusted, no problem and he's excited to go there. probably because it makes him feel good. he went with me to basically every weekly appointment while i was pregnant, so he is very used to the place. but i can tell he really enjoys getting adjusted. emmett has recently learned how to jump and i wonder if it had something to do with getting adjustments... who know's.. either way, i am a big advocate for kids and adults to get adjusted.

here are pics of emmett waiting for his exam results. he was showing off how he can make bridges with his body and he was playing around with a baby doll in the room and he put it through the skeltons pelvis, like in a delivery!!
