More talk with Daddy

Sweet Sleeper

4th year anniversary

Eric and I celebrated our anniversary this year with a little day trip to Illinois Beach State Park in Zion, Illinois. It was beautiful! We hiked 2 different trails. One was a gravel path through prairie, forest and wetlands and the second trail was a mud path through prairie. We shared a bunch of laughs and it was really nice being together as a couple. We can pretty much have fun wherever we are together. We have really been into the show, Dual Survival on the Discovery Channel. These two guys, one military trained and the other is hippie (he doesn't even wear shoes!) show their survival skills as a team as they are put into different situations/environments such as a desert, swamp, mountains, etc. Eric and I pretended that we were in a survival situation and tried figuring out what sources we would use from nature to survive. It didn't hurt that we had a water bottle filled with water, a lighter, and cell phones to add to our chances of survival. :)

Eric is known to do pranks, especially on me. He's gotten me so many times, I could never keep track! When we were on the trail and I was leading the way, he threw a bunch of orange peels to the side of me and I screamed sooo darn loud!!!!! I thought that an animal was jumping out! It was hilarious! He also grabbed some leafy, soft, tall prairie grass pieces and kept sweeping them along my neck as we were walking! I thought bugs were attacking me! Whenever I try to prank Eric, I always end up cracking up with laughter before I execute the plan and blow the whole thing all together...

It's so funny that throughout our whole day together without Emmett, we couldn't help but talk about him. He is such a huge part of both of our lives, how could we not talk about him? On one of the trails we were walking on, Eric spotted a cute frog along our path. Emmett has been nicknamed our little froggy ever since he was born because of the way he bends his legs like a frog. It was like he joined us!

Here are some pics from our hike, including the little froggy.

City Sounds

Emmett is loving to be in the Baby Bjorn, especially now because he can face outward and see the world! We went for a walk around our neighborhood the other day and I talked to him about all of the sounds we heard. Here are the some of the sounds we collected...

a dog barking
cars
a motorcycle
AC units
a person watering their plants with a hose
airplanes
a car starting up
boys playing a soccer at the park
a person saying goodbye as a car drove off
screeching brakes of a car
me chewing on an apple
a dog leash clinking..
birds singing
squirrels running around on tree bark

A Family of Three

i love my boys

Emmett makes me so incredibly happy, no words can truly explain it. Eric and I feel so lucky to have started a family and to have such a sweet baby to love. We already have so many great memories with Emmett... him peeing on us, the first smile, the first laugh, first time he tracked an object, rolled to his side, projectile puking... seriously all of it has been great. We have been good at laughing at ourselves, keeping calm at rough moments and are truly enjoying the life of being parents. The three of us goof around together, have dance parties, singing parties and little side jokes. We are a very happy silly family of three.

Emmett and Eric during their boy talks

Emmett does chat it up with his momma occasionally, however he really gets his noises going when he's with Eric. It's pretty hilarious! Eric can literally turn Emmett's frown upside down. They get pretty goofy together. I really love seeing them have their chats and try to imagine what conversations they will have together down the line. Hopefully, I'll get to have great chats with my boy too.

Can't beat the summer strolls!
