taking care of others

Giving Teddy a binky

Emmett has been learning the fun of caring for his stuffed animals and baby doll boy. Giving food, taking temperatures and shots, using nasal aspirators, giving ba ba's (sippy cups), checking heart beats, and binky's (or as Emmett says, "geekies") are all now part of playing. He enjoys this reversal role very much. The practice with the baby boy doll has been especially great to see. He's not perfect with the doll, but he shows a very sweet side when he pushes the baby in the swing, or feeds him a ba ba. I've seen him kiss the baby a few times too which melted my heart. Emmett is a very stubborn and independent little boy, but he does have a big heart which makes me very happy. I can't wait to see him meet his baby brother for the first time. By the way, if you happen to put on an extra few pounds this winter and it goes to your belly, Emmett might question you for carrying a baby! He knows that I have a baby in my belly and he's been pointing out baby's on other people's bellies now!!
